PSYPACT®
Legally, psychologists can only provide services in states where they are licensed. However, The Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB) Board of Directors approved the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT®). PSYPACT® is an interstate compact, which means it is an agreement between states to address a specific policy issue or enact legislation for a limited purpose. The purpose of PSYPACT® is to make it easier for psychologists to practice telehealth and temporary in-person psychology across state lines.
To practice telepsychology under the authority of PSYPACT®, psychologists must be licensed within their own state, apply for and obtain an E. Passport from the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB) and apply for and obtain an Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) from the PSYPACT® Commission. After these steps are completed, psychologists can practice telepsychology in PSYPACT® participating state without having to obtain additional licenses.
Dr. Dorsett completed all requirements and obtained an Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) from the PSYPACT® Commission.
